Dirk's Good Seasonings! Thyme for Salt

Toasted French Bread

Serves 8-12

1 loaf French bread (baguette)
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter at room temperature
½ cup parmesan cheese, finely grated (optional)
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Dirk’s Good Seasonings! Thyme for Salt

Slice the French bread in ¼-inch slices. Mix the remaining ingredients and spread the butter mixture on one side of each slice. If there is a little left, spread it across the top. Lightly wrap the buttered bread in aluminum foil. Set aside.

15 minutes before dinner, open the foil slightly and heat the bread in the foil in a preheated 350° oven, opening the foil at the end to allow the bread to start to brown.

Option:
Slice the French bread horizontally, butter the sliced sides, and bake open in a 400° oven 5 minutes or until starting to brown.

Of course you really do not need a recipe for this. Many combinations of butter and herbs will work fine, or just butter and cheese. But for some reason we keep coming back to this because it is both simple and a little different.
